Operations Management

OVERVIEW

Operations management professionals are responsible for a wide-range of activities involving managing many different types of resources. Working within various forms of organizations including large corporations, small businesses, for-profit and non-profit interests, and government entities, successful managers are good communicators, mentors, delegators, planners, negotiators, and problem solvers. Operations management professionals exist at various levels of the organization including entry-level, mid-level, and top executive leadership where they support daily function of multinational corporations and business organizations both in the public and private sector.

Employed in critical positions including accounting, economics, finance, marketing, and law, these leaders pursue vital functions within the organization including collecting and analyzing data, researching trends, global trade, logistics, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain management. At MCC, students interested in pursuing a career in management and leadership can chose from two course paths, Economics, Global Business, or Supply Chain. All Operations Management academic paths track to successful completion of certificates and degrees.

Career outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of management occupations is projected to grow 7 percent from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations, which will result in about 706,900 new jobs.
