MCC 180 Re-entry Assistance Program

Metropolitan Community College’s 180 Re-entry Assistance Program (180 RAP) serves the currently incarcerated and released populations. 180 RAP provides services and support to incarcerated individuals and those transitioning from correctional facilities and treatment centers so they can make a successful transition and achieve their education and employment goals.

The Re-entry Center is based out of MCC's main campus - Fort Omaha Campus - in building 9 on the north end of campus.
 

180 RAP services are still being offered onsite at the Re-entry Center.  Masks are required, however, we will provide one, if necessary.  You will receive walk-in assistance with Orientation, pantry services (food, hygiene, clothing), job seeking/postings and limited seating is available in the Computer Center.  

To schedule an appointment for education assistance, training and employment support,  call the 180 RAP mainline at 531-622-7368.  

Re-entry Center current hours of operation are:
     Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm

 

180 RAP Services include:

  • Skills and interest assessments
  • Career and educational goal setting
  • Work readiness and life skills training (credit and noncredit classes)
  • Registration assistance
  • Continuous coaching, tutoring and mentoring
  • Financial aid and scholarship application support
  • Employment support:  resume creation, job referrals, ongoing support
  • Transition support for individuals leaving jail, prison, treatment facilities
  • Referrals to MCC resources and community agencies for wraparound support 
  • Access to th Re-entry Pantry:  food, hygiene, clothing, etc.
  • Assistance securing birth certificates, IDs, social security cards

CREDIT COURSES INSIDE STATE FACILITIES
Credit classes are offered on-site at Omaha Correctional Center, Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility, Nebraska Correctional Center for Women, Lincoln Correctional Center, Tecumseh State Correctional Institution and Community Correctional Center - Omaha.

Credit classes are bundled into fast-track options for career training:

  • Trades

  • Information technology

  • College and career preparation

These career pathways lead to stackable credentials and include courses such as:

  • INFO 1003 - Problem Solving and Programming Logic

  • RDLS 1200 - College and Career Strategies

  • PROT 1000 - Introduction to Process and Power Operations

  • PROT 1302 - Stationary Engineering I

  • WELD 1000 - Print Reading for Welding




  




 




Noncredit Courses 

Noncredit classes are offered inside correctional facilities and on campus to help the currently incarcerated and re-entry populations gain employability and job seeking skills and to empower these populations to successfully transition.  

Noncredit workshop topics and offerings include but are not limited to:

  • CDL Preparation
  • Forklift Training
  • OSHA Training:  Construction and General Industry
  • Financial Empowerment
  • Digital Literacy
  • Reintegration Planning
  • Long Term Relief
  • Living Above Your Circumstances
  • Seeking Safety
  • Mastering Soft Skills:  Relationship Building, Time Management, Decision Making and Goal Setting


ORIENTATION
If you or someone you know is interested in participating in 180 RAP, come to MCC's Fort Omaha Campus, 5300 North 30th Street, building #9 to attend Orientation.  Orientation takes about 20 minutes and it is required prior to receiving services. 
 

RE-ENTRY PANTRY

180 RAP offers an immediate access pantry to the re-entry population. You do not need proof of income or identification to utilize this service. Pantry items vary daily and typically include nonperishable food items, hygiene items, clothing, shoes,  and household goods.  
 

RE-ENTRY JOB CENTER

180 RAP staff is uniquely equipped to assist the re-entry population with obtaining employment upon release from jail or prison. 180 RAP assists with resume creation or updates, interview preparation and direct employment referrals. To schedule an appointment with the 180 RAP Resource & Employment Specialist, individuals must first attend Orientation.
