History: Who we are

Helping all individuals reach their full potential is central to MCC's mission. The college has a long tradition of offering developmental education services that assist students who are at a pre-college level attain the skills necessary to be successful in college-level coursework. This focus is emphasized through the Literacy & Workplace Skills' commitment to student success, student-centered learning, and teaching excellence.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of Literacy & Workplace Skills is to strengthen students' basic literacy, academic and workplace skills through high quality classroom experiences and learning community support systems.

Our Programs and Descriptions

Academic Offerings:

  • Workplace Skills
    Workplace Skills for credit classes offer instruction in basic employability skills and strategies for personal and workplace success.
  • Adult Education
  • GED

General Education Development offers Continuing Education instruction in basic skills
GED preparation. In addition, the department offers GED testing services.

RE-ENTRY PROGRAM

Re-entry services are available at Metropolitan Community College for incarcerated individuals as well as individuals transitioning from facilities across the state. MCC helps these individuals make a successful transition into college or a career. Services include skill and interest assessments, career and educational goal setting, credit and noncredit classes, transition preparation, registration assistance, referrals to community agencies, continuous coaching, as well as financial aid and scholarship assistance. MCC’s Re-Entry Program is based out of the MCC Express. Contact us at 531-622-4059.

MCC Express

MCC Express, located at Vinton Square, 3002 S 24th Street, is a neighborhood based location that provides individual instruction, formal credit and noncredit classes, industry training programs and a computer center that is open to public use.
