Human resources professionals are responsible for an organization’s most dynamic and valued asset, its people. The Human Resources Specialist may be expected to recruit new employees, assist in matching employees to existing jobs, coordinate retraining efforts, enforce a company's employee relations policies or manage benefits programs.

CAREER OUTLOOK:  According to research at Glassdoor, two of the top 50 best jobs in America are in the HR field:

  • Corporate Recruiter

MCC HUman resources career certificate

Available fall 2021, the MCC Human Resources Career Certificate is an introduction to the functional areas connected with this role in operations, talent acquisition, compensation, training, retention and engagement, performance management, and compliance. Students learn foundational competencies in developing a range of knowledge and skills needed to break into this dynamic field. Entry-level roles in the creation and cultivation of the employer-employee relationship pave a direct path to a thriving Human Resources career in just about any industry. Students may use this career certificate as a pathway to further education in business administration.

LEARNING GOALS:  Students who complete the Human Resources Career Certificate can:  

  • Evaluate human resources policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. 

  • Analyze employee training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs. 

  • Model ethical behavior in appraising organizational core values, vision, mission, and culture

  • Coordinate the logistics of activities and events to support employer-employee relationship

  • Maintain records to support HR-related processes, decisions, projects, and services 

Aligned to the HRBoK - A Guide to the Human Resource Body of Knowledge and informed by the aPHR administrative, operational, and strategic tasks from HRCI.

 COURSES:  The Human Resources Career Certificate consists of the six following courses:

MGMT 2600: Human Resource Management (4.5 credits)
MGMT 2610: Employee Relations (4.5 credits)
MGMT 2620: Talent Acquisition (4.5 credits)
MGMT 2630: Human Resource Development (4.5 credits)
