MCC Board of Governors member Michael Young appointed to
national diversity committee

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors member Michael Young has been appointed to serve on the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Diversity Committee, a group that provides leadership for diverse populations within the activities of ACCT. Young will serve on the committee with other community college representatives from across the United States.

"I am honored to be appointed to the national Association of Community College Trustees Diversity Committee. I have the privilege to represent Metropolitan Community College and Nebraska to move the needle for positive change on equity and inclusion on a national level and more importantly, here at home in Omaha. I have worked for many years to provide all walks of life access to the resources that provide better lives, education, jobs and ultimately a better community. This opportunity will allow all of the above to come to life with real results,” said Young.

The committee’s role includes advising the ACCT Board and providing recommendations to gather input. The first meeting for the 2018 committee will take place in February in advance of the Community College National Legislature Summit in Washington, D.C.
