Annual MCC golf outing raises more than $15,000

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College’s annual golf event raised more than $15,000 for MCC students involved in SkillsUSA. The event, held at Tiburon Golf Club on June 10, featured MCC alumni, faculty, staff and community supporters.

The money raised will help students traveling to SkillsUSA competitions in the state and across the country. SkillsUSA will host its national competition later this month in Louisville, Kentucky, where MCC students will participate.

“Whether we send them to state or national competitions, it can be expensive,” said Rick Sandvig, MCC Foundation development manager. “Over the years, we have helped provide uniforms, equipment, meals and transportation. Now they can go to the big stage looking even more professional.”

Live auction prizes included donations from Distefano Manufacturing, the Omaha Storm Chasers, the MCC Auto Collison Technology program and Wine 121.

Metropolitan Community College, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties.
