Media alert: Restaurant Camp allows students to cook, serve in bistro setting


What: Metropolitan Community College’s College for Kids Restaurant Camp will give young students the opportunity to put their culinary skills to the test in a live, guest-centered environment. The kids, age 8-18, will spend time learning menus and procedures for lunch service before preparing and serving lunch to-order in the Sage Student Bistro Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. 

When: Wednesday, Aug. 2, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Where: Sage Student Bistro inside the Institute for the Culinary Arts on MCC’s Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway. 


Background: The camp is part of MCC’s College for Kids lineup. The Restaurant Camp is geared towards young students with an interest in culinary arts and hospitality. MCC culinary experts and staff will be on-hand to lead the camp and assist the students in food preparation and service.  The camp and other MCC culinary camps are sponsored by Family Fare. 



Metropolitan Community College, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Founded in 1974, MCC has the largest enrollment out of six community colleges in Nebraska and is the second largest postsecondary institution in the state.
