MCC noncredit culinary offerings feature local beer tour, Oktoberfest classes


OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College’s Institute for the Culinary Arts will host two new noncredit courses this September through its Continuing Education program listing. Travel: Omaha Beer Tour will feature a multi-brewery tour of the area’s craft beer scene on Saturday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. MCC will also offer Pairing Studio: Oktoberfest on Friday, Sept. 29, 6-9 p.m. inside the Institute for the Culinary Arts, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway.  


Led by MCC chef Derek Peterson, Travel: Omaha Beer Tour will teach students about the brewing process while sampling local beer. Stops include Nebraska Brewing Company and Kros Strain Brewing in La Vista, Neb. Cost is $85 and lunch is included. 


MCC is also adding a new pairing studio course this September. Pairing Studio: Oktoberfest will feature a five-course meal paired with German style beer. MCC chefs Michael Combs and Peterson will discuss, demonstrate and share the history, food affinity and flavor of the fall festival beers. Cost is $60.
