MCC’s Gallery of Art and Design welcomes exhibition from Museum of Nebraska Art


OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College’s Gallery of Art and Design, 829 N. 204th Street, will welcome “Distinct Discoveries: Selections from the Museum of Nebraska Art” beginning Wednesday, Oct. 19 and running through Monday, Nov. 14. “Distinct Discoveries: Selections from the Museum of Nebraska Art” is an exhibition displaying art on loan from the Museum of Nebraska Art, a museum located in Kearney, Nebraska.


There will be a special opening reception held at the gallery on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 5:30-7 p.m. Attendees will be the first to view the new exhibition at MCC as well as have the option of provided food and drinks.


“We mined through the permanent collection at the Museum of Nebraska Art and chose artwork that was different, beautiful and odd in nature. The artwork is unique and was created by Nebraskan artists and preserved by the work of MONA,” said Jewel Hosman, MCC art instructor.


The Gallery of Art and Design’s hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The mission of the gallery is to provide a creative and academic experience for students, faculty, staff and the visiting public in an intimate campus setting, where all exhibits and events are free and open to the public.
