Area students to receive full-tuition scholarships at MCC ceremony

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College will host a reception for the Board of Governors scholarship recipients on Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Institute for the Culinary Arts in the Swanson Conference Center, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school seniors based in Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties.
Students receiving scholarships must demonstrate academic success in cumulative GPA or by high rank in their graduating class. Additionally, applicants had to submit an essay regarding their future aspirations. This prestigious MCC award covers tuition and charges for two years (eight consecutive quarters) for up to 18 credits per quarter.


Metropolitan Community College, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Founded in 1974, MCC has the largest enrollment out of six community colleges in Nebraska and is the second largest postsecondary institution in the state. MCC serves more than 40,000 unique credit and noncredit students.
