Media alert: MCC’s Utility Line Rodeo this Saturday

 

What: Metropolitan Community College will host the annual Utility Line Rodeo, giving MCC students an opportunity to display skills they learned during their time at the College. The pressure-packed contest will prepare students for life in the real-world, when they’ll be tasked with restoring power during severe Midwest storms and blizzards. Competitions include pole climbing, wiring and a written exam. Certificates and trophies will be presented to the winners.   

When: Saturday, May 12, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Where: The Applied Technology Center, 10407 State Street

 

Background: The event is free and open the public. MCC’s Utility Line Technician program prepares students for an apprenticeship with an electric utility company or electrical contractor.
