MCC staff member receives diversity award


OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College’s Neena Nizar has been selected by Creighton University’s office of Equity and Inclusion for the 2018 Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J. Diversity Award for Excellence and Innovation. Nizar was selected due to her work in raising awareness for Jansen’s Metaphyseal Chondrodysplasia and for her work on global health initiatives, which promoted diversity and inclusion at Creighton and in the community. 


Nizar is a supervisor in the Learning and Tutoring Center at MCC. The award will be presented to Nizar during Creighton’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration week. 




Metropolitan Community College, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. Founded in 1974, MCC has the largest enrollment out of six community colleges in Nebraska and is the second largest postsecondary institution in the state. MCC serves more than 40,000 unique credit and noncredit students.
