Media alert: Assistology to perform custom-fitting for young child at MCC’s Proto Lab

What: Assistology, a local company that provides technology solutions for those disabilities, will perform a custom-fitting for a young disabled child at Metropolitan Community College’s Proto Lab. The objective is to custom-fit a Power Wheels car so it is useable by the child, who has been diagnosed with Ataxia-telangiectasia, a rare neurodegenerative disorder that causes poor coordination. The toy car will not only help the child move around, but will more importantly help develop essential functions like motor and sensory skills.

When: Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m.

Where: Metropolitan Community College’s Proto Lab inside the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology, Building 24, on the Fort Omaha Campus, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway.

Background: Assistology is a partner with Metropolitan Community College and is located inside the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology. Assistology utilizes the College’s prototyping equipment such as 3-D printers, laser cutters and software to design solutions for their clients. In turn, MCC students work with Assistology, collaborating on new ideas and learning about STEM subjects.
