A desire to see that the citizens of Sarpy County and the entire Metropolitan Community College area receive the best and most affordable post-secondary education available led Steve Grabowski to run and serve as a board member. Elected in 2006 to represent District 5 and re-elected in 2014 and 2018, Grabowski’s current term runs through 2022.

"The enrollment at Metropolitan Community College has been growing at a steady rate. We need to manage this growth to ensure that the quality of education and the condition of the educational facilities does not slip in to a state of disrepair. I am proud to be part of the growth of MCC and renewed presence in the North Omaha Area. I am also excited about the current plans to update the South Omaha and Elkhorn Campuses. During the upcoming years we are also anticipating growth and expansion in to Sarpy County. These will be challenging times for MCC," Grabowski said.

Grabowski was a law enforcement officer in Nebraska for 37 years. Steve retired from the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office after 35 years of service and a total of 41 years as a Law Enforcement Officer in Nebraska and has served as president of the Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police for ten years. A great deal of Grabowski's background with the Fraternal Order of Police is in the area of labor relations. He has also spent a great deal of time working with the Nebraska Unicameral on law enforcement issues.

Grabowski and his wife Linda, have three grown children, Steve, Jill and Megan and 11 grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys reading (mainly United States history from 1800 to 1860) and growing roses. Now that Steve is retired he and Linda plan to complete their plans to visit all 50 of the United States of America. His favorite hobby of all is his 11 grandchildren, Blake, Skylar, Justin, Sophie, Luca, Rocky, Stevie, Kemper, Vinnie, Cooper and Kael along with a great-grandson, Petey.
