Dr. Marsha Mamdani - MCC Foundation Board of Directors
Marsha Mamdani has a bachelor's degree in English education and a master's degree in curriculum and education, an additional master's degree and a Ph.D. in adult education. She worked at Security Benefit Group in Topeka, Kansas before moving to Omaha with her former husband who then served as president of Union Pacific. Marsha Mamdani supports her husband, Nizar’s, work in patient care at UNMC and also is co-owner of eTransmed and MediResources. Marsha serves on the Lauritzen Gardens Board of Directors.
Marsha’s husband, Nizar, has expressed interest in supporting MCCF from behind the scenes. Mr. Mamdani was born in Tanzania, East Africa. He attended undergraduate and graduate schools in Tokyo, Japan, returning to Tanzania to join his family's businesses in East Africa. When Tanzania adapted socialistic policies in the late 1960s, Mr. Mamdani moved to the United States to start a new life, settling in Palm Beach, Florida while operating successful investment and real estate companies in New York and South East United States. He now resides here in Omaha. He is a leading international businessman and currently serves as Executive Director of International Healthcare Services at UNMC.
Mr. Mamdani has an extensive background in international financing and business, and working with his brother, who started an international bank in Bahrain. Nizar has developed and managed a successful real estate investment portfolio of more than $500 million in the U.S. and Canada.
