College for Teens - Program Overview

College for Teens will be offered at several locations during June and July, 2014 for ages 12-17. No classes are held the week of July 4th. The Teens classes can be offered Monday through Saturday. Details such as class content, number of days, length of class, times and locations will be discussed with the coordinator during the interview process. Each Teens class will be offered only once or twice during the summer. These summer classes are for enrichment and fun and not intended to be college preparatory.

Instructors

Eligible applicants must be at least a junior in college and have some middle school/high school age teaching experience. A degree in Education or a related field is not required, but is preferred.

Instructors will submit ideas for classes to the coordinator with their application and will write their own lesson plans if selected. MCC will purchase all supplies for the classes. Instructors will turn in a list of needed supplies along with your lesson plan to the Supply Coordinator in May. Your supplies will be delivered to your classroom the first day you teach. Some instructors return each year, but we are always looking for new ideas and topics. Being able/willing to teach more than one kind of class will be a benefit. In order for your application to be considered, you must give us specific class titles with a detailed description of what you will teach during the class. There is a place on the application to give us this information. Please give us as many as you have - you never know which one might be just the one we need to round out the offerings. If we already have your application and you have additional classes you would like to propose, please email me with your additional ideas.

All classes are subject to cancellation if enrollment minimums are not met.

College for Teens is a great way to spend part of your summer. The classes are fun with lots of hands on activities and new experiences. If you would like to fill out an application please go to http://www.mccneb.edu/ce/c4kapp.doc.

After filling out the application, please save it as an MS Word document and email it to eshepherd@mccneb.edu.
