Overview

The Accounting program (ACAAS) at MCC prepares students for today’s business organizations with the knowledge and skills needed to analyze relevant information and make important business decisions ensuring efficiency and profitability. Accounting students enter careers in for-profit, nonprofit, government or as entrepreneurs. Career options include positions as bookkeepers, accounting clerks and public accountants.

JOB & SALARY OUTLOOK

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Apply GAAP to advanced accounting topics.
  • Evaluate business decisions using managerial accounting methods.
  • Analyze and prepare transactions and forms for tax filings.
  • Analyze business transactions using technology, including QuickBooks.
  • Identify and apply the basic principles of economics, marketing, management, business law and finance.
  • Apply ethical reasoning to accounting scenarios.
