MCC at Do Space announces July Hubbard Sustainability Series event

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College at Do Space, 7205 Dodge St., will host the discussion “Renewable Energy” on Thursday, July 11, 4:30-6:30 p.m. The event is part of the Hubbard Sustainability Series, and will feature guest speakers Courtney Kennedy, Alternative Energy Program manager at OPPD, and Darren Dageforde, P.E., executive director of Utility and Energy Optimization at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Local topic experts Kennedy and Dageforde will discuss renewable energy and how Nebraskans can make a difference in their community and in their own lives. A question and answer session with the speakers will follow. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit mccneb.edu/hubbard.

About Courtney Kennedy

Courtney Kennedy is the Alternative Energy Program manager at OPPD. Her team is responsible for the research, development and execution of grid-scale renewable energy projects in support of OPPD’s resource planning and strategic directives. Kennedy holds a four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering and Spanish from Iowa State University and a master’s degree from Creighton University.

About Darren Dageforde, P.E.

Darren Dageforde P.E. is the executive director of Utilities and Energy Optimization for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he has been for 20 years. He leads the utility generation, building automation, design engineering and sustainability teams on the UNMC campus. He and his wife reside in a net zero energy and net zero waste home that they designed and built near Blair, Nebraska.
