Black History Month kick-off Jan. 24 at MCC

OMAHA, Neb. — Metropolitan Community College will host “Black History Month Kick-off: African Americans as Agents for Social Change-Historical Landscapes, Considering Contemporary Strategies” on Thursday, Jan. 24, 6-8 p.m. inside the Swanson Conference Center at the MCC Institute for the Culinary Arts, 32nd Street and Sorensen Parkway.
The event will include musical entertainment and a keynote address by Paulette C. Walker, Ph.D., a well-known visionary and dedicated community leader.

About Paulette C. Walker, Ph.D.

Paulette C. Walker, Ph.D., has shown uncompromising commitment to serve for more than 50 years. Retired from the University of South Florida as director of undergraduate programs and internship in the College of Education, her research agenda focused on curriculum and instruction as well as administration and supervision issues in urban schools. Walker is the co-author of “We Can Have Better Urban Schools,” has served as a classroom teacher, middle school and high school counselor, director of counseling, assistant principal and districtwide supervisor of state and federal projects. Walker is also the 25th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
